Megaman Battle Network
Mega Man Battle Network, known as Battle Network Rockman EXE (Batoru Nettowaku Rokkuman Eguze) in Japan, is a video game developed by Capcom for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) handheld console. It is the first title of the Mega Man Battle Network series of games.

Battle Network takes place during the 21st century in a world where society and everyday life is driven by the internet. Users are able to interact with and virtually explore nearly any electronic device using highly advanced, online avatars called "NetNavis". The game follows a young boy named Lan Hikari and his NetNavi MegaMan.EXE as they solve a series of crimes instigated by the "WWW (World Three)" organization. Rather than share the platform gameplay of its predecessors, Battle Network is a tactical role-playing game (RPG) in which the player respectively controls Lan in the game's outside world and MegaMan.EXE in its virtual world. Battles take place in real-time; special abilities called "Battle Chips" can be accessed to fight off the numerous computer viruses present in the game's cyberspace environments.

Rewrite
Kazamatsuri City

Rewrite is set in the fictional city Kazamatsuri where treeplanting and afforestation have caused the city to become overgrown with trees and flowers in much the same way that other cities are filled by buildings. However, while most of the city appears to be rural, there are many traditional city elements as well. While set in a modern setting, the city also gives off a strange sense of nostalgia.

Tennouji Kotarou lives here. He's a high school student who has the ability to rewrite his own body; he can become stronger and faster at any time he chooses. He investigates supernatural mysteries with five girls from his school.

The basis of the story is set in a high school setting. The first half of Rewrite primarily consists of the characters interacting in many everyday, enjoyable scenes. The latter half, however, is more serious, emotional, and carries a sense of mystery to the plot. As indicated by the title, rewriting is the theme of the game's scenario. The tagline for the game is, "Could it possibly be rewritten, that fate of her's?".

Route
Moon

After completing all of the heroine's route, you have the option to enter the Moon Route. Kotarou awakes on the Moon (Though he currently thinks he's still on the Earth) and enters the city but finds no means of life. He goes to the hill site where he sees Kagari on her knees staring at a sheet made of lines (The Theorem). When Kotarou approaches her she waves her ribbons in the air to keep him away, when Kotarou speaks to her she speaks back, but her advanced language harms his ears. While Kagari is still researching, Kotarou approaches her and confesses that he just wants to be friends with her; she is almost won over by his words but he makes the mistake of calling her 'baby'. As a response, Kagari holds him into the air with her ribbons and squeezes his body, clearly showing her anger; she then cuts off his head. After that, each time Kotarou tries to impress her, she either cuts off his head or set him on fire. However, Kotarou's persistentness wears her down and she decides to give him a chance, by drinking some of the coffee he made. When Kotarou peaks at her theorem, its knowledge makes him almost pass out and he accidently head-butts her; Kagari decides not to kill him out of good will. When Kotarou feels that he needs to become smarter in order to interact with Kagari, he rewrites his mind and begins to accend into the peak of existence, but is unable to come back down; Kagari pulls him down with her ribbon. Kagari leaves her theorem, searches for Kotarou and finds him in the city. They dance in the moon light with characters in the back ground; during the dance Kotarou disrupts the rhythm and throws Kagari off tempo, she corrects her footing and and does the same to him as revenge; sometime after that Kotarou faints/dies and has to reconstruct himself. While continuing her research, Kagari senses a palpable blood-lust and becomes very afraid, Kotarou appears and comforts her. The blood-lust manifests into a small black familiar, kotarou attacks the familiar but it dodges and heads for Kagari, Kagari tries to defend with her ribbons but the familiar twists its body in the air and break through her defence. Before the familiar can kill Kagari, Kotarou kicks it into a tree and stabs it with his aurora blades. He takes a look at Kagari's theorem and learns that the familiar was sent by Sakura Kashima to kill Kagari in order to prevent her from causing humanity's re-birth. Over the next few days/years/centuries (Time fluctuates differently on the Moon) more familiars come; some try to kill Kagari by leading Kotarou away from her. Kotarou tells her that the only hope for her survival is to finish her theorem and states that they need to get the club back together. Kotarou uses Kagari's Theorem to summon the heroines of Rewrite along with Yoshino and his Wolf Pack in order to protect Kagari. Kagari speaks to Kotarou after he sets up her defence; with a look on her face that says "I've given up, I'm sorry". Kotarou tells her that she did her best and adds to her theorem, "I hope to see you again someday. -Tennouji Kotarou". Kagari has a stroke of inspiration and is able to finish her theorem, she then fuses with the theorem (Turning into a bud-flower which will later grow into a tree, as a result) and begins applying the theorem. While she slowly grows into a tree, her defense is nearly wiped out by the shear number of familiars. Dinosaur-familiars fall down from the sky onto her, Sakuya appears and kills them with ease; he takes the responsiblity of being Kagari's air defense. When the last of the heroines are killed and a large number of familiars fall from the sky, Sakuya changes into his Final Familiar Form and dies while defending her. Kotarou shuts off his humanity and does his best to defend Kagari, but even 'he' cannot handle their large numbers. He is torn to pieces while the familiars claw at her tree-trunk, but before they are both destroyed Kagari manages to finish applying her theorem. She absorbs Kotarou and all of the familiars into the theorem and begins to send them to the Earth. Kagari thanks Kotarou for loving someone as selfish as her and sends him on his 'million-year journey'.

Synopsis

Spoiler Warning
The first half of the story serves as a prequel to common route, before deviating from the events that lead to it. This was the the solution found by Kagari in the Moon to keep the Earth from dying.

Prequel to Common Route
The scene starts in the middle of a war, where Kotarou experienced shooting a person, an enemy, to death for the first time.

Before he became a soldier, he was living with his parents, whom he had been distant to. He would go with them, out of obligation, to listen to Martel's lectures. There, he would meet a young Akane Senri and her caretaker. He would also meet a young Kotori Kanbe, who disliked him due to seeing him pick a fight to protect a young boy who was being bullied in the streets.

At night, he would search for UMAs at Kazamatsuri. At one time, he went into the forest, where he met the Bayern Knights after encountering a large UMA that he cannot possibly defeat. Kotarou became friends with the leader, Sougen Esaka, who would later recruit him to join Guardian.

Kotori was also once brought to attend to Martel's meeting, but was managed to convince her parents not to. In exchange, she was to take care of a dog named Pero, who had experienced abuse from his previous owner.

So Kotarou decided to run away from his home to join Guardian. During the superhuman training, he was paired with Arata Imamiya, Touka Nishikujou, and Nagai, as they were the people who had the lowest scores in the exam training. At first, Kotarou had very little confidence in himself, but it gradually began to grow as he connected with with his other teammates. They all became members by the end, except Nagai, who quit due to her low self-confidence and subsequent loss of powers.

Their first assignment involved them stationed near an alley inside Kazamatsuri, but Arata and Touka became impatient and headed for the forest instead. Kotarou, concerned, followed them as well. In the forest he witnessed Mikuni, another Guardian, meeting his demise in a fight against the Earth Dragon.

Kotarou fled from the scene, only to find Akane, who was stuck at the top of a tree. He managed to get her down while being attacked by a hound familiar, but as he tried to escape her, he came across a newborn Key. Just as he was about to attack her, she defended herself with her ribbons, which inflicted on him serious injuries.

Kotori found him and healed his injuries using her newly-obtained druid powers and a piece of the Key's ribbons, turning him into a half-familair. Due to a head injury, he slipped into coma, aging very slowly. He woke up, having vague memories of the events in the forest.

Deviation

Kotarou, instead of attacking the Key, chose to let her go.
Search for Good Memories

Kotarou had gone back to Japan after the war. Esaka had noticed that he has changed.

In the daisy hill, he found the Key, who asked him to find good memories that would keep the Earth from being engulfed by Salvation. He complied, and while initially having no idea how to find the "good memories" she wanted, the two concluded that ending a major war, which Kotarou figured to be the conflict between Gaia and Guardian, will solve the problem.
